My husband and I are deciding if want to have children. Being a 28 year old woman with SWS, PWS and glaucoma I have many concerns about this issue. We've been getting a lot of pressure from our parents about this also, but I can't explain to them how I feel about pregnancy possibly negatively affecting the SWS and thus my health . I spoke with my OB/GYN and he too says we need to take extra precautions if I decide to have children. Can anyone give me advice on this issue, their experiences, or literature. I am looking for the facts, good and bad, to help me make this decision. Thanks!!

I know several women with SWS who have had children and little to no complications. However, as you know, each case of SWS is different, and things like medications or other conditions related to SWS or PWS may have an effect on pregnancy, so you need to consult with your doctor on things like seizure medications, aspirin, etc.

Also, some people with SWS also have KT or other vascular issues. There can be problems associated with birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, and pregnancy with KT and other PWS conditions.
